It's an old Range Rover that always sits in this driveway I go by all the time.
I was playing with Picknik, a new (free!) online image editing tool I just discovered. It's one-click everything...like it does stuff Photoshop and GIMP do, but you don't need to know how to do it, take a look www.picknik.com.
I think for this picture I used vignette, something like "filmstrip," maybe...definitely "film grain," and one other I'm forgetting.

I do like this picture.
In terms of photo editing tools what I find absolutely indispensable is Picasa (free from Google).
It has great tools for fixing and special effects. And it's lightening fast because it runs locally on your computer instead of through the internet.
What I like best about it, is it finds all of your pictures automatically. So, when you start Picasa all of your pix are right there in front of you. You just pick the one you want to work with. It's also great great just as a picture viewer. I love Picasa!
Another free tool that I use a lot is Paint.net. It's made as a replacement for the paint program that comes with windows.
Paint.net is not as capable as The GIMP or Photoshop, but it does 99% of what I need. If I can't do it in Picasa or Paint.net, then I fire up The GIMP, but that is rare.
Yeah, I use Picasa a little. Mostly for "straightening," cuz I find it the easiest of my tools. I open all my images (I shoot RAW) 99.99% of the time in Canon's Digital Photo Professional (DPP) for sharpening (EVERYTHING gets sharpened), usually a minor lightening and sometimes upping the contrast. Then I convert to JPG and move to Paint Shop Pro, where I do ADDITIONAL brightening and sharpening, cropping, resizing, and file naming. That's my standard process. If I want "easy fancy" after that, I go to Picasa or Picknik, and if I want something more sophisticated (layers, cloning), I go to GIMP.
