It's always daytime at the Oconee Diner. Even when it's nighttime.

Day 70

I couldn't decide whether to title this, "Oh, The Glamour of it All," OR, "Soldier Ribbons, Cancer Ribbons, Aids Ribbons - Now There's a Marriage Ribbon??"

Day 63

Once or twice a year, Islip offers free rabies shots to dogs and cats. I sat down there for a while this morning, watching, chatting with Pooper Scooper Lady...and picking out my favorite dog. My own Caleb has something wrong with him right now...we spent most of the afternoon at the emergency clinic today, with no resolution. For now, he's just laying by his food bowl in the kitchen, watching disinterestedly as the cats keep stopping by for bites of his food. He's a pretty sad guy tonight...so in honor of Caleb, I offer up today's photo - the most noble and courageous dog of the morning...I can just hear him thinking, "I'm not afraid of no stinking needles! Lemme at'em! Lemme at those needles!"

Day 58

I've lived right around the corner from this Elks lodge for 13 years, and until just this week, I never realized that this "mailbox" was really a flag drop-off box!

Day 56

Maybe not the most interesting picture...but one that gave me the perfect opportunity to say, "HEY! SHE'S A HER BIRTHDAY, TOO!"*

* I Love Lucy reference, anyone get it??

Day 55

Remember the grey Dutch colonial down the block, where the couple just got a new walkway?? Well, now they have something else new!

Day 54

After the tattered flag on the red door, I felt I needed to show Islip in a little better light...and here is a lovely flag at the beach, in all its long-may-it-wave glory...

Day 53

I checked in on the kittens...they're getting so big! And there are so many! There were 5 or more that didn't even get in the shot!

That little grey one closest to the camera is the one that was "featured" in the last "kitties" post. Still the boldest one!

Day 52

A sweet little house and garden...I love the Dutchman's Pipe growing on the lattice around the front door. You don't see that here a lot...
