A little patriotism for Labor Day

I was still hoofin' it today with my car at the shop...always liked this Dutch colonial on my street. It used to be totally hidden from view by overgrown shrubs but the (relatively) new young couple have done a lot of clearing, and just had a new walk poured from the driveway to the front door. I always liked the low stone wall along the front....
After I left the service station, I did a quick drive around the block and found this lovely "peek" into someone's garden

This is my trusty co-pilot Caleb - he accompanies me on most of my daily shoots. He now knows camerainhand is a good thing - it means he's going to go for a rideinthecar.
And I don't just bring home pictures from my photo scouting trips...earlier this week I scored this sweet little table, that right now is making a damn fine puffy cat pedestal in my living room...but you'll have to wait for that photo another day :-)

Sorry for the repetitive theme, but I just couldn't resist shooting this little lady grazing at the side of the road. I pulled right up to her, snapped a quick one, she stood there for just a few more seconds, then jumped, literally from a standstill, over that chainlink fence, and trotted back to her deer buddies.

My favorite little shop in town...sometimes I treat myself to a piece of jewelry. She really has great stuff!
Chasing rainbows...literally. We just had a quick thunderstorm pass through town - the sky quickly went from blue and sunny, to dark grey-green with big fast-moving bumpy clouds...there was a downpour...then clearing to blinding sun...I just happened to be out in it and was literally chasing a shot of the dark sky...when lo and behold, there was the rainbow! A DOUBLE rainbow, to boot!
Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what holds you back, and choose the path that leads to wisdom. ~ Buddha
The Indian restaurant down the block closed and a sit-down pizza restaurant is going in its place. They've been working on the building for months. I feel bad for the little family-owned-and-run pizza place down the road. They've really not kept up with "pizza trends," and I'm afraid this new resturant will hurt their business...but I *do* like the changes they've made to the building...
Kittens! I took several shots of these kittens...that little grey one kept coming closer and closer...I finally figured I should leave because I didn't want him coming outside the fence to the road...it took every ounce of will power to NOT encourage him to the fence and grab him up and bring him home with me!
